Building Grassroots Support and Connecting with Political Leadership
Our 2008 programs focused on empowering the grassroots and their leaders to take bold, critical steps toward a comprehensive agreement and a permanent end to the conflict. These programs were designed to create public awareness on the importance and the urgency of the current negotiations, and inspire hope and activism among the people. The programs - including public awareness campaigns, an essay contest, and our ongoing youth leadership program, operated along the following tracks:
In the recent years OneVoice has undertaken various public awareness campaigns focused on personal responsibility and civic engagement. In 2008, we felt that it was more important than ever to put time and resources into engaging ordinary citizens on both sides, with targeted campaigns designed to highlight the urgency and rarity of this narrow window of opportunity.
OneVoice worked to play a role in leading the way, and calling for citizens to support their leaders in working to reach an agreement.

In early spring 2008, OneVoice launched imagine: 2018 to inspire and motivate the Israeli and Palestinian people, by asking youth to visualize what the region would look like in 10 years if a peace agreement were to be signed in 2008. The objective was to challenge people to regain hope and inspire their own communities to take action toward supporting their leaders through a negotiations process which will lead to the establishment of a viable, independent Palestinian state at peace with Israel.

OneVoice’s Youth Leadership Development program, which was launched in November 2004, has become the heart of the Movement. To date there are over 400 Youth Activists that have been engaged by the training program and 2000 that have been fully trained. They make up the human infrastructure and engine of the OneVoice Movement.
The vision for the Youth Leadership Program is to empower and train youth, both Israeli and Palestinian, to lead their communities and people through non-violence and discourse, OneVoice is harnessing its grassroots momentum to create a new generation of activists and leaders who embody a culture of understanding and tolerance and who have the tools to lead in their communities.
