Development Director


Our international offices in London and New York help to raise funds and build support for the work carried out by OneVoice Israel (OVI) and OneVoice Palestine (OVP). OneVoice Europe (OVE) is seeking an accomplished Development Director to lead the office’s efforts in this area.

Within the UK and Europe, there is phenomenal scope to build our growing profile and expand our successful fundraising operations. The successful candidate will be working predominantly with major donors and trusts and foundations, and will also be expected to lead on liaising with our teams to write and deliver high quality institutional proposals.

Main activities / Responsibilities:

1. To raise funds in the form of principal gifts through a variety of methods including face-to-face meetings and other activities by developing and implementing a comprehensive programme to identify, evaluate, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors, trusts and foundations with the potential to contribute gifts, and developing long term relationships for OneVoice Europe

2. To manage and develop relationships, building a portfolio of individual contacts, including prospective and existing supporters – utilising a wide range of methods including stewardship events and recognition programmes; developing networks amongst donors and prospects; and involving donors and prospects closely with planning activity within OneVoice. Travel (within the UK and abroad) will be required.

3. To recruit, promote and co-ordinate the activity of fundraising volunteers and Trustees in support of securing major gifts and developing prospective supporters, providing targets, strategies and motivational impetus

Key Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing a portfolio of the most significant major donors, trusts and foundations and prospects, raising income to meet agreed targets.
  • Working closely with the Trustees, International Board members and other volunteers to ensure the most effective approaches are made to secure funds.
  • Working in collaboration with our Israeli and Palestinian Teams and other experts to develop the most effective fundraising strategies.
  • Producing high quality written proposals and making verbal presentations tailored specifically to meet a donor’s personal interests.

Actively participate in the team strategy. This includes:

  • Contributing to the team strategy in the context of achieving donor development objectives and targets.
  • Helping to develop and implement all aspects of the donor development strategy, such as the case for support, prospect research, establishing volunteer networks and donor recognition opportunities.
  • Seek opportunities to network and build senior connections with key donors, articulating with clarity, passion and knowledge OneVoice’s work.

Person Specification

  • Experience of developing high value relationships with major donors and trusts and success in soliciting principal gifts
  • Proven track record of delivering income against agreed targets and timescales
  • A team player

Skills:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with staff, Trustees, and volunteers: diplomatic, persuasive and credible at senior level
  • Initiative and creativity: ability to pro-actively recruit new donors and to identify and seize opportunities and find solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills: ability to make a cogent and compelling case for support
  • Ability to swiftly gain a thorough understanding of new and complex issues (e.g. political issues) related to OneVoice’s mission
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills, meticulous attention to detail
  • Good strategic thinker: ability to set long & short term objectives
  • Good knowledge of Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Internships


The New York office of OneVoice is accepting applications for internships.

Interns will be responsible for providing administrative and logistical support to our full-time staff. Each intern is asked to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, 3-5 days a week for 3 months. Interns are needed in the areas of communications/media, international education programming, and fundraising. Please specify your area of interest in your application.

Development Intern


Do you want to help empower ordinary citizens to achieve conflict resolution in the Middle East? Do you want to gain the most highly sought-after skills in the nonprofit sector – development skills – and have a concrete impact working with a small, fun staff?

Come join OneVoice as a Development Intern in New York City.

The OneVoice Movement is an international, youth-driven, grassroots nonprofit headquartered in NYC, with offices in London, Tel Aviv and Ramallah. In addition to valuable development experience, you will gain a deeper understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and inside exposure to the operations of a dynamic, international nonprofit.

The ideal candidate will have great attention to detail and strong writing and computer skills. Experience with fundraising or marketing, grant writing, and/or proficiency with databases, graphic design, or multimedia are a plus (but not required). There is a 3-month minimum commitment, at least 25 hours/week.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Development Associate and assist in her daily needs and duties, as assigned.
  • Liaise with friends, donors and VIPs, by drafting correspondence and email blasts to keep them in the loop and excited about OneVoice.
  • Flex your creative side by drafting and/or designing promotional materials.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of year-end fundraising drive.
  • Cultivate relationships with foundations by researching grant opportunities, participating in meetings, and drafting grant proposals and concept papers.
  • Work hand-in-hand with OneVoice staff to plan fundraising events and trips.
  • Assist in the optimization of the donor database (SalesForce), to turn it into a powerful fundraising tool.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or highly qualifi edJunior or Senior undergraduate
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Superior command of the English language
  • Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Skills in layout and graphic design a major plus
  • Proficiency with databases a major plus

Compensation:

This position is unpaid. A travel stipend will be offered. Successful interns will receive highly marketable skills, a great letter of recommendation, and access to our network of young leaders around the world.

Communications and Media Intern


OneVoice is seeking an intern to join the communications team in our New York office.

Maintaining offices in Ramallah, Tel Aviv, London and New York, OneVoice is an international grassroots movement which aims to amplify the voice of the majority of Israelis and Palestinians who wish to end the conflict. Through youth leadership training, town hall meetings, and mobilization across Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, OneVoice works to build popular consensus for the two-state solution and demand accountability from elected representatives. OneVoice supports a negotiated, comprehensive agreement between Israel and Palestine that ends the occupation, ensures security and peace for both sides, and solves all final-status issues in accordance with international law and previous bilateral agreements.

Interns must be able to work from September 2011 – December 2011.

Interns will be required to complete the following tasks:

  • Research, report, fact check, and write articles
  • Assist in drafting press releases, newsletters, promotional content, and donor updates
  • Develop relationships with media outlets and pitch stories to them
  • Update and maintain press, bloggers, and nonprofit mailing lists
  • Assist in maintaining and promoting the OneVoice Movement fan page, Twitter account, and other social networks
  • Update communications team on the planned activities of the offices in the field
  • Assist in simple graphic design and html coding work

Required skills:

  • B.A. in journalism, communications, international affairs, Middle East studies, or a related field
  • Excellent research, reporting, and writing skills
  • Ability to take initiative and generate creative and innovative content with minimal supervision
  • Excellent command of social media tools
  • Knowledge of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (field experience in the Middle East a plus)
  • Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work for a minimum of 25 hours per week

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Arabic and/or Hebrew language skills
  • Graphic design experience
  • Basic HTML coding experience
